The Liberal party's Stadiums Tasmania promise is set to see the Silverdome undergo "immediate" upgrades to the value of $5 million - if the party is re-elected to majority government.
The trust would be responsible for overseeing the development and management of major stadiums, with the aim of maximising economic and community benefit in the state.
Premier Peter Gutwein said he wanted to see netball have a home in Northern Tasmania at the Silverdome, with the trust to oversee the establishment of a four-court indoor netball stadium.
"Over past years, we've spent significantly at the Silverdome to bring it up to speed in terms of the concourse," he said.
"Netball needs an indoor centre here in Launceston, and Stadiums Tasmania will be tasked with bringing that to fruition."
It has the potential to work alongside an upgrade to UTAS Stadium - with Stadiums Tasmania also responsible for pursuing a $200 million upgrade to the site, including the establishment of rectangular stadium functionality and an indoor basketball/netball centre.
Mr Gutwein said it was important to have a strategic approach to sporting facilities across the state.
This would ensure that stadiums meet spectator requirements but support the push to have Tasmanian teams on the national stage, he said.
