A 52-year-old Invermay man remains in hospital in a stable condition after being shot outside his home on Thursday morning.

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting, which took place about 1am on Mayne Street.
It is understood the man confronted two burglars who were attempting to break into his car when the shooting occurred.
As of Friday afternoon the two suspects remained at large, while the victim remained in the intensive care unit at Launceston General Hospital.
IN OTHER NEWS:
It was the 11th firearm-related incident in Launceston in less than two months. However, police said there was no information to suggest the victim knew the offenders.
