The site closed in March 2020 due to COVID-19, before it reopened in December to campers. It remained open for the summer period, at a cost of more than $71,000 to the council, before it closed again last month.

The council's chief executive Michael Stretton said it announced in November it would be closing the park for the winter season.
"The council will use the winter closure period to develop a new management and operational model for the park, and intends to re-open it to the public again in time for summer later this year," he said.
The park was operating under a commercial and residential lease agreement but this expired in July 2020.
