Taking part in a two-day skills camp for children aged 6-13, the fresh fleet learned the basics of the sport under the watchful eye of Basketball Tasmania development officer Nathan Brereton.
"The sport is on the up, participation numbers are up, registrations are up," he said.

"It's a really positive thing to have so many here today."
Impressed with the amount of active children in one of the state's most popular sports, Brereton believes the Silverdome's NBL action featuring the New Zealand Breakers and the upcoming Tasmania JackJumpers franchise has boosted interest significantly.
"There's a lot of buzz and hype around the JackJumpers at the moment which is a positive thing for the sport, there's even some JackJumpers merchandise being worn already," he said.
