If re-elected into government, $20,000 worth of funding will go towards installing a new pontoon on the Meander River.
Incumbent Lyons MHA Guy Barnett said the river was one of Deloraine's greatest assets.
"It is well utilised by locals and visitors and is a hive of activity through summer with swimmers and kayakers," he said.
The river is also popular for fly fishers, becomes a community hotspot for picnics during the summer months, and marks the start of the Great Western Tiers Sculpture Trail, with public artworks on either side of the river.
The new pontoon would be delivered to the community through funding provided to the Deloraine Flames Boat Club, who are set to benefit with access for dragon boat racing, with the pontoon also providing safe entry and exit for other boats used in the popular waterway.
"The Deloraine Flames Dragon Club is a fantastic organisation, which also hosts dragon boat regattas annually, bringing other clubs from around the state," Mr Barnett said.
"This in turn supports local businesses in the area.
"The Liberals are proud to support clubs and organisations that support communities with healthy activities and social connections."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Club president Andy Dunn said the pontoon wouldn't just benefit their sport, but countless other community members who use the river regularly.
"It wouldn't just be us, there's plenty of people in the town and area around us who use the river recreationally during the summer, it would make access for them, especially children, so much safer," he said.
"Our club has been going for a little over five years, we've been loading off and on from the area on the river for that whole time, and while most of the time it's fine, there are times where it can be a bit dangerous, especially when and when we get visitors or members of the public who want to have a go.
"We're talking about something very simple, that's just above water level, but something that would make it safer for those involved."
