The car was stolen from Bridgewater in the state's South in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The white Pulsar was then spotted driving erratically in the New Norfolk area about 7.30am, and again about 9am on the Bridgewater Causeway.
Police became involved as the car travelled onto the Lyell Highway towards New Norfolk.

While officers followed the car from a safe distance, other police were setting up spikes ahead of the vehicle.
The car was stopped in the Berriedale area within 15 minutes of reports from the public.
Despite trying to flee the vehicle, five youths were arrested.
