Minister for Police, Fire and Emergency Management Mark Shelton said his party would double its investment in the program to $2.5 million to continue assisting landholders to understand and manage bushfire risk on their properties.
"We know that Tasmania is a bushfire prone environment, which is why it is so important to support landholders and farmers to manage their bushfire risk and help keep Tasmanians safe," Mr Shelton said.
The Red Hot Tips program works under State Fire Management Council.
State Fire Management Council said the program educates, engages and supports farmers and landholders in rural Tasmania to actively manage their bushfire risk.
Farmers and landholders work with facilitators one-on-one and in groups to help manage their bushfire risk.
Red Hot Tips was launched as a $600,000 initiative in August last year.
"Since August 2020, registered landholders and farmers under this program have completed 97 planned burns, covering over 1700 hectares of privately-managed land, which is equivalent to 850 cricket grounds," Mr Shelton said.
"The successful program will receive additional funding to support more landholders and farmers to undertake bushfire planning and burning that will enhance business, property and community safety."
The program offers farm visits to discuss fuel reduction options, and other opportunities to reduce the risk.
