Meeting the unbeaten New South Wales in the gold medal match after a thrilling semi-final win on Wednesday, the Tigers found themselves two goals down after five minutes.

Captain Oliver Stebbings turned the tide to lead his side in the first change at 2-2, but two second-half goals secured a 4-2 win for the Blues.

"New South Wales were a good team, they moved the ball quick and probably just outran us by the end," Stebbings said.

"It was pretty awesome really, I didn't really think we were going to get that far.

"To make the semi-final was pretty good and then to come back from 3-0 to win 5-4 was pretty awesome.

"To make the grand final and be competing with the best team in the country was pretty cool."

Stebbings was also named player of the tournament and finished third on the goal-scoring charts with eight.

"It's a pretty big honour - I was pretty surprised," the 14-year-old Queechy High student said.

"Not many people get to say they've been player of the tournament at their country's national level."

Tasmania's under-15 girls finished their tournament on Wednesday with a 1-1 draw with Victoria's development side.

In the penultimate day of the under-18 carnival in Launceston, the Tasmanian boys and girls sides both won their classification matches.

The girls finished fifth after a last-minute goal to Emma O'Grady secured a 2-1 win.

Earlier, Emma Fenner has opened the scoring in the final term before New South Wales Blue threatened to send it to penalties with a 57^th minute equaliser.

The boys game did go to a penalty shootout - which Tasmania won 3-1 to snag seventh spot - after Victoria's development side cancelled out Sam Payne's opener in the second term.

The girls and boys grand finals will be played at 10am and 12.15pm respectively on Friday.
