A 31-year-old man and woman have been charged after an alleged brazen armed robbery in Launceston CBD this morning.
The man has been charged with armed robbery while the woman is facing an offence of receiving stolen property.
Tasmania Police alleged the man, who is not from Launceston, approached a woman on Brisbane Street opposite Morty's Shopping Complex about 8.30am threatening her at knifepoint before making off with her handbag.
"He threatened her with a knife and stole her handbag. He then ran off on foot and a short time later Launceston police located a 31-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman ... that were taken into custody," Launceston Police Inspector Nathan Johnston said.
The pair are due to face the Launceston Magistrates Court this evening.

A man has been arrested after a woman was allegedly robbed at knifepoint in Launceston's CBD this morning.
A Tasmania Police alleged a woman was approached by a man who threatened her with a knife opposite the Morty's Shopping Complex about 8.30am.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The man stole her purse before running off on foot. However, the police spokesperson said the woman was not physically injured during the incident.
The alleged offender was arrested shortly thereafter in Balfour Street and remains in police custody.
Launceston Police are investigating the incident and anyone witnesses have been asked to contact the police station on 131 444 or call Crime Stoppers Tasmania on 1800 333 000.
