At the Launceston Library's school holiday program, children attended a costume-making workshop, with the costumes made of old graphic novels from the library's collection.
Participant Emma Mcleod, 10, was making some wristbands for her costume and said Batgirl inspired her.
"I like all of the gadgets she has and the fact that she's not magical, but she's still a hero," Emma said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Library Services officer Alice Imlach said this week the program had activities themed around superheroes, but there was a variety.
"We are talking about heroes in all of their forms, so today we have the traditional superheroes, but other sessions will be focused more around our ordinary heroes, or everyday heroes," she said.
Everyday heroes include firefighters, emergency services, animal heroes and war veterans, but could be anyone, Ms Imlach said.
Lily Heerey, of Cressy, 10, said she didn't watch too many superhero films, but she was enjoying the creativity of making her costume.
"I like it because I can come down here and make something and maybe help to inspire other kids," she said while putting the finishing touches on her belt.
Live at the Library events, which will be on the next two days, will continue the school holiday program this week and will continue the superhero theme.
A session will be held on Thursday at 10.15am, and another will be held on Friday at 4pm.
Live at the Library is supported by the Friends of the Library.
