Tasmanians have been warned to batten down the hatches ahead of severe weather set to blow through the state from this evening onwards.
The Bureau of Meteorology said a vigorous cold front will arrive on the West Coast this evening, crossing the state during Wednesday morning.
It warned of damaging winds travelling up to 70km/h with peak gusts in excess of 100km/h later this evening.
Locations likely to be affected by this extreme weather include Western, Upper Derwent Valley, South East, North East, East Coast, Central Plateau, Midlands and parts of North West Coast and Central North districts.

The State Emergency Service advised that people should secure outdoor items, be prepared in case of power outages, beware of damaged trees and powerlines, supervise children closely and manage pets and livestock.
