Labor not so much.

The ALP still has time to bolster its vote through well targeted policy and promises and ending its shambolic progress which has seen issue after issue arise, mostly involving candidates.

The Liberals' record has not been perfect, but Labor has stumbled much more regularly.

Labor has also kicked a few goals in recent days with some funding announcements and statements likely to be popular, not least its renewed enthusiasm for the Mersey Community Hospital.

While there is still time for Labor to improve its position, it needs to "win" pretty much all of the days until May 1.

Earlier in the campaign, I tipped a Liberal majority victory with 14 seats, with Labor to take eight, the Greens two and Clark independent hopeful Kristie Johnston the other.

Events since have not led to a changed prediction, but have firmed the expectation of a Liberal win.

They also appear to have brought Greens seat wins in Lyons and Bass into the realms of possibility, with the third biggest party some chance of increasing its representation from two.

For now though, the most likely outcome remains 14-8-2-1.

Former Braddon Labor MHR Justine Keay being added to the party's ticket was the major development in the North-West and West Coast seat.

Her presence should firm up the Labor vote in Braddon.

The Liberals won't be helped by police charges against high-profile candidate and former minister Adam Brooks.

Mr Brooks is alleged to have incorrectly stored ammunition in contravention of the Firearms Act

He said he would vigorously defend the allegations and there were no firearms involved.

Labor is targeting him big-time, sensing a potential weakness in the Liberals' Braddon ticket

Ms Keay is expected to add a personal vote to the Labor tally, and the party might now be dreaming of a 3-2 win in Braddon, especially if the previously strong Brooks vote is significantly diluted.

Labor's troubles statewide and Premier Peter Gutwein's coronavirus-boosted popularity make a Labor 3-2 result unlikely, although the vagaries of the Tasmanian Hare-Clark voting system might give it a chance (and might well work their strange magic and produce unexpected outcomes in any seat).

Most likely, though, Braddon 3-2 to the Liberals.

If so, the big question will be which of Ms Keay and shadow ministers Anita Dow and Shane Broad misses out on the Labor side.

The campaign in Bass has appeared relatively sane compared to some of the other seats.

That said, Labor's string of difficulties - which so far outweigh strife on the Liberal side - must surely firm the Liberal (and Green) votes in Bass to a degree.

Having previously (and somewhat nervously) predicted the Liberals to rout Labor 4-1 in Bass largely off the back of Mr Gutwein's presence on the ticket and his strong public approval due to his handling of the pandemic, that prediction feels a little more comfortable now.

A 3-2 Liberal win or a Greens seat (3-1-1) are also possible.

LATEST: 3 Liberal, 2 Labor.

BUT: Some chance of Liberals 3, Labor 1, Greens 1 or even 2-2-1.

Labor's troubles statewide and the re-emergence of a former key Greens MP have muddied the waters in Lyons.

Tim Morris will boost the Greens' vote in Lyons, most obviously at the expense of Labor.

While he is not the Greens' lead candidate, if they jag a seat here, expect it to be him.

Mr Morris held a Lyons seat from 2002 until 2014

The Greens struggled in Lyons in the 2018 election, taking just 6.53 per cent of first preferences.

Previously a very solid poller by Greens standards, Mr Morris should lift that significantly.

However, the Liberals should poll strongly again in the sprawling seat and Labor not only has Leader Rebecca White in the field, but also Shadow minister Jen Butler and Janet Lambert (who polled well in 2018 without quite making it).

Still tough for the Greens to snare a seat, but it now looks possible.

The Labor preselection debacle which meant federal Labor had to step in to get popular Kingborough Mayor Dean Winter onto the Franklin ticket has been the key campaign development in the non-Hobart Southern seat.

Meanwhile, Labor candidate Fabiano Cangelosi launched on his own party's pokies and protest laws policies.

The Liberals have not been untroubled in Franklin either, losing candidate Dean Ewington over his comments regarding coronavirus-related restrictions, which were very different from Mr Gutwein's views.

The net result is that Mr Winter is likely to enter the parliament, likely replacing Labor shadow minister Alison Standen.

She would be a loss for Labor, but, at the same time, Mr Winter is a potential medium-term leadership option (assuming some Labor folk grow more interested in winning elections than belting the party's right).

Mr Cangelosi's intervention was interesting.

While it added to the air of Labor disunity, it would also have made him more appealing to the anti-pokies voters expected to move back to the Greens after Labor's policy about face on the issue.

He might poll more strongly than previously expected, but, on balance, most of the recent developments in Franklin will help the Liberals and the Greens, whose current MHA, Rosalie Woodruff, looks increasingly likely to be returned.

Labor's various ructions won't do it any favours in Clark, which looms as a key electorate.

Indeed, they are likely to help the votes of the Liberals, the Greens and high-profile independents Kristie Johnston and Sue Hickey.

Ms White effectively fired one Clark Labor candidate - Tasmanian branch president Ben McGregor - over text messages to a female colleague six years ago which he said he had apologised for.

He withdrew his candidacy and later threatened to sue Ms White for defamation.

His replacement Labor candidate, Sam Mitchell, almost immediately hit strife over past social media postings.

Mr Mitchell, who is listed on electoral commission material as a communications specialist, apologised.

Those matters, plus Labor's various other campaign bungles, the presence of the high-profile independent duo and having former Wilderness Society kingpin Vica Bayley bolstering the Green vote, it is hard to see Labor doing any more than holding its current seat (Ella Haddad).

Mr Bayley's presence makes Greens Leader Cassy O'Connor an absolute certainty - she probably was anyway - and they might even go close to two in the Hobart seat.

For mine, it's two Liberals, Ms Haddad, Ms O'Connor and Ms Johnston.

The Labor doings would have been likely to aid Ms Hickey's chances, and she might be an outside hope, possibly at the expense of a second Liberal.
