The fairytale continued at Birch Avenue where LAUNCESTON UNITED built on their 100 per cent league start with an 8-1 demolition of Glenorchy Knights in the women's statewide cup.
Two goals each for Dani Gunton, Jessica Mccallumsmith and Sofie Verhaegen were complemented by another set piece header for Madi Gilpin and Laura Dickinson, to the delight of co-coach Frank Compton.
"The girls stuck to their task well," he said.
"Glenorchy made life difficult for us in the first half, credit to them for bringing a full squad north for the trip.
"With the hot conditions we kept our game shorter in the second half and made our fitness and quality tell in the final 20 minutes.
"We're happy to be through and look forward to the quarter-final draw."
Another goal-fest saw Kingborough Lions edge out University 6-4, Taroona beat Ulverstone 3-0 while lack of numbers forced RIVERSIDE to forfeit their match at Clarence.
The Lakoseljac Cup saw a morale-boosting win for LAUNCESTON CITY but a day to forget for both cross-town neighbours.
Lino Sciulli's City picked up their first win of the season with a 5-3 success at Somerset.
Strikers Dan Smith (two) and Will Fleming both opened their accounts at Cardigan Street, with Mason Gardner and Stefan Tantari completing the scoring.
On a day of big scores, NORTHERN RANGERS were on the wrong end of a 13-0 thumping by Devonport.
The reigning state premiers showed the gulf between the NPL and Northern Championship at the NTCA Ground.
Nick Lanau-Atkinson showed no mercy returning to his old stomping ground, kicking off the rout and finishing with two along with Brody Denehey and Joel Stone while Jordan Lamb bagged a hat-trick and Toby Barton, Kieran Mulraney, Eddie Bidwell and Miles Barnard added one each.
Glenorchy's men had a more enjoyable visit to Launceston than their women, winning 4-0 at RIVERSIDE.
Olympic coach Alex Gaetani was making no excuses for his side at Windsor Park.
"Unfortunately we didn't begin the game the way we would have liked and with the same mentality as previous games which means a team as strong as Glenorchy are going to hurt you, which they did," he said.
"There was a slight improvement in the second half, but we know what we need to do to turn results around starting next week against Devonport."
Olympia also hit double figures, winning 11-0 at Ulverstone, Kingborough enjoyed a 4-1 win at New Town Eagles, South Hobart beat Clarence 2-0 and University beat Beachside 2-1.
There was much more local success in the under-20 cup.
Juancarlos Hampson scored twice for LAUNCESTON CITY at Devonport but the home side hit back in the second half to make it 2-2 and force extra-time.
However, it was City who kept their calm as the contest was decided late on, Tito Brown and Prince Byamungu adding two in a minute before Wil Cipura completed a resounding 5-2 win.
RIVERSIDE also had a late scare before progressing with a 4-2 win at Taroona's picturesque Kelvedon Park.
A penalty apiece had the sides level at the break but the hosts were reduced to 10 men for bringing down Adam Walker, who converted the resulting spot-kick.
Walker added a second and Toby Simeoni looked to have banked the win with a composed finish. However, a Taroona worldy made it interesting before Georg Tabagari made it safe.
Christian Byard (two), Lochlan Cameron, Aaron Gunsar, Oliver Jacobs and Reede Beckett bagged the goals as LAUNCESTON UNITED added to their women's win by demolishing Kingborough Lions 6-1.
Lochie Dean hit NORTHERN RANGERS' consolation goal in a 4-1 loss to South Hobart.
In other games, Clarence Zebras beat South East United 3-2 while Glenorchy Knights (4-0 versus Burnie United) and Olympia (5-0 v Beachside) cruised through.
Meanwhile Ulverstone generated a fair amount of publicity with an eye-catching 28-0 defeat of Coastal neighbours Somerset.
