Scheduled to make the championship's first appearance at Symmons Plains since 2019 on April 10-11, the Tasmania SuperSprint has been delayed until April 17-18 as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 situation in Brisbane.
With the Greater Brisbane area locked down and several border controls imposed, the championship was hit heavily as Red Bull Ampol Racing is based in the Queensland capital, while Shell V-Power Racing and Matt Stone Racing are in the Gold Coast area.
In addition, the Tasmanian border has been closed to those who have visited affected local government areas in Queensland.
In a statement, the Supercars organisation has said staff and race teams will comply with all applicable government regulations.
"In light of the current COVID-19 situation in Brisbane, Supercars has made the precautionary decision to delay the upcoming Tasmania SuperSprint by one week," the statement said.
"All tickets already purchased for the event will remain valid and will be moved to the new event dates.
"As has been the case since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Supercars staff and race teams will comply with all applicable government regulations in travelling to and staging the event.
"Supercars thanks all fans for their ongoing patience and apologises for any inconvenience caused. We look forward to welcoming everyone to a safe event in Tasmania in coming weeks."
The series last visited Symmons in April 2019. It was scheduled to return on November 21-22, 2020, only to become one of many sporting events cancelled by COVID.
The Supercars are not the only national sporting competition to alter Tasmanian dates as a result of the Brisbane COVID outbreak.
On Tuesday, the NBL announced that the New Zealand Breakers matches at the Silverdome against Adelaide 36ers on April 6 and Perth Wildcats on April 10 had been postponed.
The Breakers now play Perth on April 13, Brisbane on April 16, Cairns on April 23 and Adelaide on April 26.
