JackJumpers head coach Scott Roth was on hand to scope out the talents of both squads.
Thunder coach Nick Haywood said having Roth's feedback for players was beneficial.
He said it was important the two teams develop a strong relationship with one another, as they're set to share venues 15 times this season.
This includes the first match of the season, where both the Torns and Thunder will face their Hobart Charger counterparts in the South on April 17.
"Being in that training environment where everyone is trying to to get better individually and as a team, they were pushing each other," he said.
"The (were) girls pushing the boys to go hard and it came back the other way, and it was important that the girls weren't taking it easy on the boys and they were all pushing each other."
