Perth 8.12 (60) were taken to task by Old Scotch 15.14 (104) at the former's home ground on Saturday to open the NTFA season.
Perth's coach Danny Bennett said his younger side held its own for the first three quarters, but eventually gave in to a seasoned Scotch team.

Swan led the Pies with three goals - Bennett said his presence was invaluable to both his side and Scotch's.
"He's a class act ... the experience we, and Scotch got from having a player of that calibre on the field was fantastic," he said.
"Having him down here has certainly paid dividends."

Scotch's Charles Eastoe booted four goals in his side's 44-point victory.
Coach Brayley Coombes said aside from a sloppy second quarter, he was extremely satisfied with his team's opening efforts.
He added to Bennett's comments on the value Swan's presence had on the field.
"It was a really good experience for us ... we were just mindful of what a player like him can bring to the table and we had a plan," Coombes said.
