The stars were many but the biggest winning rink was Tony Simpson, Chris Dudman, Paul Harman and Jake Wyllie who were much too strong, defeating Garry Courtney 26-12.
Not far behind was the David Gamble quartet who finished 10 in front of Anthony Johns 22-12. Then came the Mark Nitz four who had eight to spare over Greg Douce 23-15.
The closest game was between two of the real stars of the competition in Taelyn Male from Burnie and Latrobe's Tim Douce, which Male won 22-21.
It is not uncommon to hear people say how unpredictable sport is and bowls is no exception. The last time these two teams met was in the second semi-final which Latrobe won by 25 shots, winning on all rinks. It is hard to justify how a team can win by 25 shots one day and go down to the same team a fortnight later by 33.
Take nothing away from the Tigers for they have been the trend-setters all season not losing until the final roster game.
One can only admire their dominance of the competition. Well done Burnie.
In division 1, there can be no doubt the win by Port Sorell over Turners Beach would have to be the biggest winning margin ever recorded in a preliminary final.
The Port won by 61 shots winning on three rinks and drawing the fourth. It would be extremely unfair to highlight any particular rink, suffice to say it was a great team effort with all the Shark bowlers doing their bit.
On Sunday they have to do it all again as they come up against the Burnie Tigers at Ulverstone.
Newly-promoted Ridgley proved their capabilities by defeating Railton by 10 shots in the division 2 grand final. They can thank the James Butler, Peter Crowe, Lloyd King, Ian Moore rink for the win as they defeated Rodney Blenkhorn 26-12.
John Walters finished seven in front of Rowan Donahue and Darrell Hardy and Adam Castles played a draw. It was left to Darryl Castles to try to resurrect the Railton situation by outscoring Anthony Armstrong 21-10.
The Devonport Eagles who had set the pace throughout the division 3 season defeated arch rival South Burnie on three rinks by 31 shots. Leading the way was the Glenn Simonds, Darrell Young, Don Howe, Ian Barnes rink who defeated the Geoff Short combination 28-11.
Dean Townsend, with good support from Phillip Atkins, Garry Mullett and Vicki Townsend, also had a good 22-12 win and Trevor Atkinson won 19-14. South's only winning rink was Leon Allen who defeated Alan Duncan 19-18.
The Devonport Eagles were not as fortunate in division 4, going down on three rinks by 29 shots. The big winners for the Beach were the Tony Busic, Bill Price, Kerry Steward, Louisa Farrell rink who defeated Neil Kelly 23-10.
Not far behind was the Tony Toka awesome foursome who defeated Boxer Stephens and Greg Heathcote won 24-15 over Keven Dowling.
Interesting to note that the Eagles had beaten the Beach on the three previous occasions but not in the one that mattered.
Latrobe Blue is the division 5 East Premiers after defeating Port Sorell by four shots.
They will play Smithton Black who defeated their teammates Smithton Red by just three shots.
