Premier Peter Gutwein says he has had "positive discussions" with independent Clark MHA Madeleine Ogilvie, amid speculation she could run as a Liberal candidate at the state election.
Ms Ogilvie, a former Labor member, did not respond to requests for comment on Friday but when Mr Gutwein was asked if she would be on the Liberal ticket in the electorate of Clark, he did not rule it out.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"I've had a number of positive discussions with Madeleine Ogilvie," Mr Gutwein told reporters in Hobart on Friday. "It's a matter for the party and, importantly, it'll be a matter for Madeleine Ogilvie."
In January this year, Ms Ogilvie told The Examiner she was "loving my role as an independent" and had "no plans to make a change".
"[Being an independent] gives me the freedom to advocate on issues that matter to people," she said at the time.
"I am really focused on making sure everyone has access to health care, getting more houses built and landing jobs for my constituents.
"Delivering real results for real people feels good."
