Sure to be a delight for delivery drivers, the loading zone had been a common request from the local business owners who wanted a safe space for delivery drivers to unload their goods.

Southern Launceston Community Development Committee chairman Andrew Doyle said he was pleased the loading zone had finally landed in Kings Meadow.

"It was great that the council came to the party because a lot of businesses out there, and we've had feedback, that the delivery drivers really struggled to find parking out there," he said.

"It definitely [will] make it a lot easier for the delivery people."

City of Launceston councilor Alan Harris said the designated zone for delivery drivers had already proved a popular pick for workers.

"On Monday, I happened to see a delivery driver park in the loading zone in his delivery van ... I said to him 'how'd you find the loading zone?' and he thought all his Christmases had come at once," he said.

Mr Harris said that it was important that motorists kept the loading zone clear so it could be used for its intended purpose.

"Part of what we want to do is let people know is that these aren't two car parking spots anymore, there's a loading zone, so don't park your car there," he said.

The new loading zone is in front of the Meadow Mews carpark.
