Starting as a delivery driver, Mr Johnson said he "just kept getting promoted", eventually leaving university three and a half years into a mining and engineering degree to purchase half a store.
"My friends thought I was crazy," he said.
But the move paid off - Mr Johnson currently owns and operates 10 Domino's stores across Tasmania, including Launceston, Kings Meadows and Mowbray.
Mr Johnson's journey with the company has been formally recognised, being awarded the pizza giant's Global Leadership Eagle - awarded to one recipient each year across all of Domino's nine international markets.
The award aims to recognise someone in the business who displays "unwavering integrity and vision while insipiring others to demonstrate the highest standards and commitment to Domino's", according to group chief executive Don Meij.
Mr Johnson said the award was a team effort.
"It's incredible recognition, and it shows our team are doing an incredible job and have come a very long way," he said.
"There is absolutely no way I'd be able to do this without my incredible team, we have a bunch of of guys and girls, about 280 employees in total, 41 managers in our team at the moment, and I wouldn't be able to do anything I do without them."
In recognising Mr Johnson's success, Mr Meij said he was recognised for his dedication to his team, his leadership and character, placing him amongst the top leaders in the company.
"Without a doubt, his greatest attribute is his dedication to developing his people and investing in his team to help them be the best they can possibly be," Mr Meij said.
