The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather for damaging winds and surf, as well as, heavy rainfall.
The bureau states that heavy rain, which may lead to flash flooding, is expected to develop across North-East Tasmania during Wednesday afternoon before moving to the east and south-east of the state by the evening.
It has been forecast that up to 100 millimetres of rain could fall along the east coast from midday Wednesday through to Thursday.
However, the bureau said in excess of 200 millimetres is possible across the elevated areas of the east and north-east.

The bureau stressed the rainfall is not expected to be extreme as that seen across New South Wales in recent days.
But, a flood watch has been issued for catchments in the eastern half of the state with river rises expected from Wednesday onwards.
Strong gusts of winds travelling up to 100 kilometres per hour and damaging surf is possible along the east coast during Wednesday and through to the early hours of Thursday morning.
