While the last of the summer heat has started to fade and autumn well and truly on the way, there is no need to start your hibernation just yet!

Northern Tasmania still has so much to offer in the cooler months and this time of year the art scene makes a resurgence with a host of wonderful events to enjoy.

After a tumultuous 2020, BOFA film festival is making a welcome return to Launceston April 30-May 2, with a host of curated films to enjoy both online and in the cinema.

Festival director Owen Tilbury caught up with Northern Exposure to chat about how the festival has changed for 2021 and what to look forward to on the lineup.

The TSO's Summer Program will be finishing up in Launceston in April.

Launceston subscribers will enjoy a completely new series in a new location, the Royal Park Series at QVMAG Art Gallery, featuring specially curated repertoire performed at 2 pm and 4.30 pm in the atmospheric surrounds of Launceston's iconic gallery.

The Razumovsky Quartet on April 10 will be the last of the series.

If music in the vines is more your speed, the last of Josef Chromy's Summer Music Series will take place on March 28, featuring Nadira & Friends, Nathan Broomhall and Emily Sanzaro.

Relax with friends on the grounds of the vineyard with food hampers and great local wine available.

Make sure to get out and enjoy Launceston in autumn and don't forget to look up as the city starts to change colour!

Launceston Harvest Market will be filled to the brim with seasonal produce. Late summer sees the arrival at the market of ears of local corn to add delicious touches of gold to the last warm-weather barbeques and salads.

Alongside the sheaths of corn, you'll find the rough, knobbly, leathery, ugly celeriac, blushing autumn apples, beautiful pastries and locally roasted coffee.
