Athletics Tasmania media coordinator Dominic Anastasio said this year's under-18, open and masters state champs will be a good chance for athletes to flex their muscles.
"We're really excited, even nationally it's been really interesting to see the way track and field athletes have emerged from the pandemic," he said.
"It's been the opportunity for a lot of athletes who might have had a few injury niggles to go away and work on and fix those.
"We've seen athletes like Stewart McSweyn and Jack Hale absolutely crush it because they haven't had that ongoing demand to compete, compete, compete and have to push through injury. It's allowed people to go away and train without that intensity to compete."

Events will start from 10am until 6.45pm on Saturday, and between 8am and 3.15pm on Sunday. Anastasio said he anticipated similarly satisfying attendance numbers this weekend to the age championships two weeks prior.
"That was a really good indicator in terms of numbers, I think we were up in regards to that," he said.
"We're definitely on par with previous years ... on absolute face value it looks consistent if not slightly higher just because people have been starved of that top-level competition over the past 12 months."
