Jazz Quartet
March 20, from 1.30pm, free but bookings essential via Oztix
The Evan Carydakis Quartet will bring the smooth sounds of Jazz to St Johns Anglican Church. The one-hour performance will feature original material from The Point Within A Circle - a project supported by Arts Tasmania. Acclaimed saxophonist Carydakis will be joined by Brendon Siemsen on guitar, Ben Brinkhoff on bass, and Andrew Dennis on drums to share jazz music with the community.

Poetry Festival
March 19-28, ticket prices vary
Wordsmiths rejoice as the Tasmanian Poetry Festival is back to satisfy every poet and poetry lover's needs. The festival, in its 37th year, will run from March 19-28 and include six poetry packed events. To purchase tickets visit taspoetryfest.org.

Food Festival
March 21, tickets online - $17.50 for adults, $12.50 concession, kids under 16 free. Tickets at the gate - $20 adults, $15 concession.
The much loved Tasmanian Garlic and Tomato Festival is going ahead in 2021 despite some difficulties for tomato farmers in the North. From Heirloom Heaven (a colourful display of vegetables), to farm tours, games, competitions, guest speakers, celebrity chefs and a focus on local, quality food, there are a number of ways to enjoy the festival. The event will also be themed this year for Harmony Day with visitors encouraged to don orange clothing for which there will be a best dressed prize.
Hop Picking
March 20
The annual hop picking day will be held at the Van Dieman brewery farm just outside of Evandale. The day will start at 9am and it's suggested you bring a camp chair, gloves, a long sleeve shirt and something for young ones to drink and eat. A small lunch of brewery-raised lamb and some refreshments will be provided to pickers.

Franklin House
March 21, 10am-2pm, free to enter
Entertainment, live music, stalls and food will satisfy patrons attending the annual Franklin House Fair. The event is the major fundraiser for the year for the house. Attendees will get treated to a mix of stalls from Franklin House - offering plants, cakes, books, bric-a-brac, and lace and linen - plus around 20 other private stalls. There will also be plenty of live entertainment and a chance to see the newly uncovered Franklin House Well.

State Championships
All weekend
Athletes from across the state will descend upon St Leonards for the under-18, opens and masters state championships this weekend. A year out from the onset of COVID-19 has left many a track and field star yearning for competition. This is expected to result in a thrilling weekend.
