Former George Town batsmen Rohan and Marshall Pooley have taken charge of the men's senior and reserve teams with Stephen Pearce coaching the women as recently-appointed president Gavin Stone helps steer the club in a new direction.
"I am excited to announce that the club has entered into a partnership with UTAS, with pre-season training being held at the Newnham campus while cricket is being played at the NTCA," he said.
"Rangers are also increasing opportunities for students to be involved as players, coaches, referees and sports trainers. UTAS and Northern Rangers hope to build on this relationship in future years."
Stone hoped the positive expansion could be replicated on the pitch.
"We are really happy with the new coaching team we have for our men's and women's senior teams. They have a good group of players to work with, so we'll be pushing hard at the right end of the table.
"We are glad to return to the Northern Championship 1 after a COVID break last season. We are also entering the under-16s championship for the first time and our under-18s side will be looking for back-to-back titles."
Ian Loft has stood down from a lengthy and successful spell coaching the women while Phil Ragan remains in charge of the championship-winning under-18s.
Senior coach Rohan Pooley said he was proud to take over from Fernando Munoz following the Chilean's switch to Launceston United.
How's the squad?
Last season was quite a challenging one with COVID although having Yitay (Towns) and Luke (Eyles) on board was fantastic and great for our players, but obviously we don't have them again.
Sam Wagner is a left-footed winger who is very composed on the ball and I think he's going to be a very creative player for us. I think he started out at Rangers and played a lot of futsal with some of the boys here.
We're a very young team and after our under-18s were successful last year a few of those boys will step up into the senior squad.
Bryley Jordan was a key part of that success along with Tom Harriman, Wylie Howell and Lachlan Norton.
Fernando was a big part of the success of the club for the last couple of years and has decided to go to Launnie United and we wish him all the best.
Emma Langley will be a significant loss to the women but other than that they are a very young group and look very similar to last year.
Numbers have been fantastic in pre-season and we feel we're in a really strong position to challenge in all three male competitions and it's nice to have that depth.
It's a very young group with some experienced players like Zach and Wes Chugg, Daniel Sparshott and Tom Duncan.
The young guys have accepted the challenge of how we want to play and we're looking forward to the first game.
The pre-season game against Devonport was good to see where we're at defensively and a couple of our younger squad members were able to play against the best team in the state.
Season aim?
To be competitive in every game. We've been working hard on how we want to play and what we need to do to improve each week and I feel if we are competitive in every game then we'll be at the pointy end of the Championship.
Player to watch?
Seungchul Choi. He's a South Korean attacking playmaker who is very composed on the ball. It was his first year with us last year and he really gelled with our formation and has been impressive pre-season. I'm looking forward to see him progress and he will be a key asset to us.
Top goal-scorer?
Wes Chugg has been around for a while and played NPL with Rangers. He makes good runs and with good delivery will be on the scoresheet regularly.
