A Tasmania Police spokesperson said three men stole a white Courier utility shortly after midnight this morning from a Hobart Road business in Youngtown.
It appeared the offenders, who had covered their faces, attempted several supermarket burglaries across the greater Launceston area.
"They have then gained access to the rear of the Coles supermarket in Joffre Street, Mowbray by smashing a window," the police spokesperson said.
"Staff on site have disturbed the offenders, who moments later evaded police in the stolen Ford utility."

About 2am, the same offenders broke into the Newstead Coles supermarket and later the Woolworths supermarket at Kings Meadows where they gained access to the cash registers.
The police spokesperson said the stolen car was found at St Leonards and had been set on fire.
