This year's sale features more than 5000 donated books ranging from children's novels to adult fiction, which have been packed into 200 boxes ahead of next week's sale.
Friends of the Library secretary Prue McCausland said the proceeds would help fund programs at Launceston Library.
"The money goes towards supporting the programs at Launceston Library and buying extra equipment," she said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"Recently we've bought chairs and cushions for the children's area and we're starting a new program about having an entertainment session for children on Saturday mornings."
The Friends of the Library volunteer as well as holding the annual book sale, which helps fund extra activities at the library.
The much-loved book sale, with its wide variety of books for all ages and readers, has been a roaring success for everyone involved.
Ms McCausland said it was not unusual to see 100 or more people lining up outside the sale before it opened.
"It is (successful), we usually make over $10,000 a year," Ms McCausland said.
"When it first started it was held downstairs (at the Launceston library) but it got too big."
She said libraries held an important place in society and should be supported to provide services.
"I just enjoy working in libraries and using libraries and I think they should be supported."
The book sale will be held on Saturday, March 13 from 9am to 1pm at St Ailbes Hall.
