The cars were stolen from CTST's Invermay facility on February 10. Police recovered one of the vehicles the following day but the other five remained missing.

CTST chief executive officer Lyndon Stevenson said it was disappointing for the volunteers involved with the organisation that people would steal from the community.

"These are community vehicles used to help people who are aged or living with a disability [and] who are living independently at home," he said.

He said by redeploying cars from around their fleet and using sub contractors they were able to meet demand after the incident.

"No one missed out on a trip because of this incident. That is something we are really proud of," Mr Stevenson said.

Mr Stevenson said the next step for the organisation was to get the recovered vehicles back on the road.

He thanked Tasmania Police for their tireless work in recovering the cars and investigating the theft.

A Tasmania Police spokesperson said the investigation into the theft was ongoing and that no charges had been laid.
