The loss - their first of the season - saw them fall from top spot on the WNCL ladder but the 162-time New Zealand representative was pleased with their showing against a side that featured six Australian squad members.

"You can look back on any game of cricket and think 'I could have done this' or 'we could have done this different', there's a million different things we could have done differently," she said.

"We came up against a really quality side and we really took it to them.

"We put some runs on the board and fortunately for them, unfortunately for us, they batted really well."

Priest, who debuted for the Tigers this season, was dismissed for a second-ball duck before her opening partner Sasha Moloney (69) and middle order batters Heather Graham (59) and Naomi Stalenberg (63*) boosted Tasmania to 8-255.

But it wouldn't be enough as the recently-snubbed Elyse Villani showed selectors what they are missing with 133, hitting the winning runs with 11 balls to spare.

"We have seen in the other games that we've played that a couple of wickets can really change it," Priest said.

"Obviously Junior [Villani] batted really, really well but we knew if we kept attacking the other end we would be in with a chance.

"We had a few ducks there in the middle ... so we were probably technically a little bit short but I still think 255 was a really good score and something we could bowl at."
