RSL president Graham Barnett noticed the trailer was missing on Friday and quickly contacted the Veterans sub-branch's longest serving member Allan Cunningham to alert him.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"He rang me to see if anyone had borrowed it and I went down and saw the lock and everything had been cut through with an angle grinder," Mr Cunningham said.
"The RSL have cameras ... there was a car there and it had it's headlights on shining on the camera so they [the police] weren't able to get a number plate."
Mr Cunningham said that the members were hurt and confused about the stolen trailer.
"I cannot [believe it] we were all very angry and irate ... we're still stunned, we just can't believe someone would be low enough to rob from the veterans, the trailer has been there for 10 or 12 years," he said.
"We're pretty distraught and upset, it's pretty unbelievable that someone would steal it from the Vets."
The sub-branch uses the trailer to help mow the lawns and tidy the gardens of retired veterans and widows of veterans as well as people who are unable to mow their yard themselves.
Mr Cunningham said that without the trailer, the branch was unsure how they would continue to perform that service.
"The trailer is probably, in this day and age, worth five thousand dollars ... to try and raise that money to get a new one is going to hard because we don't charge the war widows very much, just enough to cover our costs for fuel."
"Now we're stuck we've either got to hire a trailer or borrow another one until we can get it back."
The stolen trailer has been reported to Launceston Police and they are investigating.
Anyone with information should call Launceston Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
