You can take the Royal Launceston Show out of Launceston, but it seems like the name will remain despite the show's recently announced move to Carrick.

Chief executive officer of the Royal Launceston Show Brian Bennett confirmed that the show would likely keeps its name for the foreseeable future despite the change.
"There's been no discussion to change the name, if that gets put on the table down the track, we'll look at it then but at this point it's certainly the Royal Launceston Show," he said.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Mr Bennett dispelled suggestions that the Launceston Show could merge with AgFest ,which is held at Quercus Park later in the year.
"No, we're there on our own two feet, it's purely a contractual hire agreement of their facilities, so we pay them for their venue," he said
"I really feel they remain as separate entities, Launceston show is built around spring activities and Launceston is part of a show circuit so it is very hard to change the dates.
"There's certainly been no discussion of a merger and I doubt it would happen."
Ahead of the 150th anniversary of the Launceston Show in 2023, Mr Bennett said the society was excited about the possibilities that moving to a bigger venue provided them.
"Most of the facilities we need to run an agricultural show are there, it gives us far greater space to move with than we had at Inveresk, we've already had in the last couple days interest from other groups who haven't been able to be involved in our show due to room constraints," he said.
"It gives us an opportunity to expand what we already do. At Inveresk we ended up with a very small space and we were very limited with what we could provide the public ... we can expand on what we do and [2023] will be the 150th year anniversary so it gives us a couple of years to build up [the] event.
"For those physically involved in the show they see it as a great step forward and for those outside the show it's a change and people are always a bit reluctant to change."
He confirmed that they are investigating getting extra transport put on for the event to help people attend the new location of the show.
