Murray said the last year had been tough for him due to COVID-19.
"It's really been a tough time and tough time for the music industry in general," he said.
"[The] music industry is still really struggling."
IN OTHER NEWS:
Murray's new EP The Night, soon to be released, was originally scheduled to launch in November 2020, but was held off because of the pandemic.
The EP took Murray about three years from start to finish, and is warmer and more personal than his previous EP, Camacho.
"It's funny, I don't think about [releasing it] too much but it's nice to get new music out there for people to hear," he said.
"To play these songs live is going to be the next thing."
The singer-songwriter and guitarist said he hoped he would be able to get some more shows and tours happening, with By The C Festival already lined up.
"It's nice to get back playing live again. I think that's what every musician has missed with COVID ... and I think that's what the general public has missed too."
The Night will be released March 5.
He previously released one of the songs on the EP, If We Never Dance Again, with a video which can be viewed on Murray's YouTube channel.
