ALL OUR EGGS IN ONE BASKET
HAS Australia painted itself into a tight corner? Becoming so reliant on Facebook and Google, when there should have always been an alternative - "a competitor".

Like political parties, banks, energy, supermarkets and restaurants - choice and competition. And the same with China with a majority of our exports. All our eggs are in the one basket, leading to strong manipulation and bullying. And this is because Australia is asserting its sovereignty, making our rules and laws which everyone has to abide by.
Google and Facebook controlled by a single arrogant multi billionaire paying only as little over 2 per cent tax with a constant income of hundreds of millions wow, are resisting in paying for it's news content. And China with crippling sanctions, because we dared to challenge them on the origin of COVID-19 to try and prevent it happening again. Is this a wake up call to Australia's vulnerability, should we now sensibly plan for our future and be in control of our own destiny?

A VERY BIG THANK YOU
I FEEL I must compliment the Launceston ambulance service after my husband needed their services. The older population who wish to avoid aged care homes would be lost without the excellent care we received.
The professional care we received was excellent and deserving of praise second to none. A big thank you to the three officers concerned.
Jill Inglea, Prospect Vale.
SINKING THE BILL AT ANY COST
BASTIAN Seidel is spot on in his condemnation of Ms Archer and Ms Ferguson. Their opposition to Voluntary Assisted Dying is personal and not based on any genuine lack of safeguard in the proposed legislation.
They will raise one objection after another, stalling progression, never satisfied. Their sole objective is to sink the bill at any cost. Only their constituents can fix this problem by getting in touch with them and voicing their anger.
Ann David, Waikanae.
Focus on eliminating rubbish
I'VE always been under the illusion that as a nation we have been under extreme pressure to cut back on our waste, as we are swamped with it.
Then why are we being enticed to purchase even more food packaging.
I refer to the fancy packages of fruit and vegetables which are beginning to stock the shelves, what amuses me is cut up varieties.
Have we forgotten to use a knife as well as becoming so lazy and useless that we just can't be bothered.
We need to focus on eliminating rubbish as much as possible if we are to live in a healthy world.
Try and think back to what it must have been like in the war years and beyond.
They didn't have the pleasure and easiness of fancy food packaging.
Most times they considered themselves lucky to have enough to keep body and soul together, but most were happy.
We have created in some areas a very lazy and spoiled lot of individuals.
Jo Ford, Legana.
WE DESERVE MORE RESPECT
ON February 23 Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that Jobseeker would be increased by a lousy $25 per week, and in the middle of a pandemic.
We have seen that in a country like Australia there is no need to force people into poverty.
We need a government that is more interested in creating an inclusive and just society, and less interested in its own ideological navel.
The Prime Minister can do better than this.
We all deserve more respect than this.
I thought we were all in this together.
Kim Atkins, Sidmouth.
