Although show society president Brian Bennett said its decision to move 20 kilometres outside of Launceston to Carrick was an ideal one, especially ahead of its 150th anniversary in two years' time.
The move away from Launceston was sparked after the show society voluntarily relinquished its lease on the former Inveresk site, which will become a car park for the University of Tasmania's Inveresk campus and the broader community.
