Set a Duckworth-Lewis target of 251 after the Breakers made 6-246 in 47 overs, the Tigers appeared to have the upper hand at 3-204 when Naomi Stalenberg whacked three consecutive fours in the 39th over.
But Stalenberg (40 off 35), player of the match Heather Graham (116) and Meg Phillips (4) fell in quick succession as Hannah Darlington's 45th over swung the game back in the Breakers' favour.
Needing 12 to win off four balls, The Tigers found back-to-back boundaries through Belinda Vakarewa (14), who needed two off Darlington's final delivery to keep Tasmania's winning streak alive.
The big-hitting pace bowler could only manage a single to mid-on as the Tigers' innings ended 7-251.
Earlier, Rachael Haynes' 109 anchored the visitors' innings, with Rachel Trenaman (49) and Ashleigh Gardner (43) also pitching in.
Nicola Carey, who made 50 at number three, was the pick of Tasmania's bowlers with 3-43 off 10 with Vakarewa (2-45) the Tigers' other multiple wicket-taker.
