A development application for stage one of the redevelopment at 35-37 West Church Street has been lodged with the Meander Valley Council.
The organisation offers a range of specialist services for students on the autism spectrum and the first stage includes a new building featuring two classrooms, a break-out room, kitchen facility, a deck and shared amenities.

Stages two to five will require separate DAs. The second stage proposes the refurbishment of the existing Tower Hill Cottage to house a speech therapy room and office, with the existing classroom to be modified to become a new library.
The next stage proposes a major refurbishment of the Drill Hall to improve the classroom and associated amenities, and add an academic extension program room, new archival store and staff facility.
The fourth stage proposes demolishing the Savage River building and constructing a new building for an art and performance area, with the potential to add another classroom.
The final stage includes modifying the Green Room to incorporate new kitchen facilities and an extension of the existing gymnasium area.
The DA for the first stage available for comment on the council's website until March 10.
