The Dorset Council is considering increasing the limit in the township from 50km/h to 60km/h on Gladstone Road.
Mayor Greg Howard said the council investigated the road's speed after a resident claimed vehicles were speeding through the town.

However, he said Tasmania Police and the council monitored the area and found 80 per cent of traffic was travelling between 50km/h and 60km/h.
"It's a reasonably major freight route," he said.
"The 50km/h limit was put in because there used to be a private religious school in the town and the Herrick Hall. However, the school has closed and the hall is not council owned anymore. So the reasons for the speed no longer exist.
"It's a wide open street and similar town's nearby like Pioneer is 60km/h, Gladstone is 60km/h ... and Ringarooma is 60km/h."
The council is asking the community for its input on the matter. Submissions can be made online, via email or mail until March 12.
Before the limit could be changed, permission would still need to be sought from the Transport Commissioner.
