The Breath of Fresh Air Film Festival has invited filmmakers from across the country to submit their short films to the Stories of Tasmania Short Film Competition.
Festival director Owen Tilbury said the film industry, like so many art sectors, changed during the pandemic period and has not yet settled into a new normal.

"[We are] now embracing the idea of having an in-person cinema and online festival. I think it's quite unique," he said.
"As Tasmania's state film festival we are proud to invite filmmakers to show us what their story of Tasmania is.
"In these difficult times this film competition gives short filmmakers the chance to show their work to a national audience."
Tourism Tasmania and Brand Tasmania will provide prizes of $2500, $1500 and $1000 for the top three scoring films, from a shortlist of 20.
The films can be anywhere from three to 20 minutes in length, can be new work, existing work, or re-cut work, and be from any genre.
Entries to the competition close March 28, and the shortlisted films will be screened during the festival from May 3 to 30.

The Tasmanian Breath of Life Film Festival will have plenty of other films on show during the festival period.
"Our theme this year for BOFA will be to show we are truly a breath of fresh air," Tilbury said.
"Let's not be daunted by COVID and the changing world but grab a hold of these things and blow away the cobwebs ... and do things differently."
