A new display at the Launceston Library is sharing stories of survival and a shared community.
The two works, a table cloth and prayer mat, were created by the Women's Friendship Group, inspired by PhD student Mehrangiz Tabatabaei.
The group aims to connect women who have moved to Launceston from the Middle East, with the works created over a number of months as a group, which encouraged the women of diverse backgrounds to connect and make lasting friendships.

Ms Tabatabaei said the designs were from the Middle East, with the fabric from Australia - a way to tie the two unique cultures together.
The pieces are on display for public viewing at the library's first floor until February 25, where they will then be on display at the Launceston General Hospital.
