A 23-year-old Launceston man was arrested in Mayfield about 11am Thursday in relation to an alleged "serious domestic assault".
Launceston CIB Detective Inspector Craig Fox said police had been trying to find the man for about a week before calculating an arrest involving the Tasmania Police helicopter.

"Through assistance from the public, detectives and uniformed police swarmed an area in Mayfield and Mowbray late this [Thursday] morning and we located a man and took him into custody," he said.
While in custody the man will be interviewed and police say they expect to lay charges.
While the helicopter was due to be involved in the search, police had already taken the man into custody before it got to Mayfield.
"The helicopter was on its way up for that, but we managed to affect the arrest before the helicopter arrived," Detective Inspector Fox said.
