Approximately 100 members of Launceston's business community gathered at the Hotel Grand Chancellor for the first Tamar Valley Leaders Lunch for 2021.
The guests were treated to a speech by guest of honour, Premier Peter Gutwein, about his life and adventures growing up in the region.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Mr Gutwein shared how he came to live in Launceston at the age of four with his parents because they saw the opportunities presented in the region before his adventures playing with the VFL.
He reminisced of his time as the publican at the Bridport Bay Inn - including seeing the "best of humanity on show at the pub on a Friday night... and the worst".
"After all of my time here, I can say comfortably that I've never been prouder to be a Tasmanian than I am now, especially after the extraordinarily difficult past 12 months," Mr Gutwein said.
The lunch was organised by a collaboration between the Tamar NRM, Rotary Club of Central Launceston, Launceston Chamber of Commerce and the Hotel Grand Chancellor Launceston.
