The Age reported on Sunday that "industry sources" confirmed the news after the key-position player had been overlooked from both the national and rookie drafts in December.
Callow linked up with fellow Tasmanian Jade Rawlings to sign with SANFL club Norwood last month with the hopes of a spot on an AFL list, which now may happen earlier than expected.

The Hawks may be scouting for a replacement for stood-down forward Jon Patton, who is indefinitely away from the club while an investigation into his off-field behaviour continues and could have at least two spots available on their list.
Tom Scully's sudden retirement earlier this month freed up one spot, with James Sicily able to be placed on the inactive list following his knee reconstruction.
If picked up, Callow would break the dry spell of Tasmanian-listed players at the Hawks, with last season the first time since 2004 there were none after Tim Mohr (retired) and Grant Birchall (Brisbane) moved on.
