The Tasmanian-owned development is earmarked for 10c Franklin street and would cater to high-end tourism.

Red Panda Properties is preparing to hold community information sessions to discuss their plans with the people of Swansea.

Director Andrew McCullagh said the goal was to create a visitor experience which would rival the those offered in nearby towns - such as Coles Bay.

He said the community consultation was aimed at ensuring any concerns were abated.

"Swansea itself doesn't have any boutique accommodation. Traditionally it has had bed and breakfasts and older style accommodation but at no stage has the town had really first class accommodation," Mr McCullagh said.

"We are going for something really high end that would compliment the town."

Mr McCullagh said he had complete faith in the visitor economy bouncing back after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Swansea has had a pretty good run apparently from what our investigation has showed I'm thinking post COVID Tasmania is going to be the flavour of the month," he said.

"Another thing we are seeing is that when the borders are open because people can't travel overseas they are actually travelling to Tasmania."

The community engagement sessions are scheduled to take place at Swansea Town Hall on February 13 - between 3 and 4.30pm or between 6 and 7.30pm - and 14 - between 10am and 2pm.

Mr McCullagh said after the consultation session they will have final plans drawn up before taking them back to the community. He said the company will look to take the proposal to council.

Those plans are expected to include Grandview House which also sits on the property. Mr McCullagh said the heritage listed house could house a restaurant going forward - although no plans for the house have been finalised.
