Cecil Maurice Mabb, 41, appeared via video link to the Burnie Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
Through Tasmanian Aboriginal Legal Service defence lawyer Frank Brinken, Mabb pleaded guilty to both charges.
Magistrate Leanne Topfer accepted the pleas and adjourned the matter to the Supreme Court.
Ms Tofper told Mabb that as both charges are indictable, they would be dealt with by a judge in the Supreme Court.
Mabb was remanded in custody to appear in the Burnie Supreme Court on March 9.
