The festival will visit every corner of Tasmania across three weekends in March, feature over 45 events, and include more than 450 participating Tasmanian artists and community members.

One of the highlights for the north will include The Marvellous Corricks at the Princess Theatre which celebrates a band of family entertainers who travelled the world, but the family have a special homage in the city.

"A set of organ chimes they brought from America in 1910, and that haven't been played since 1930's, will be played as part of the show," artistic director Lindy Hume said.

"It will be quite beautiful. It will be very nostalgic and lovely and a wonderful tribute to this family."

The signature piece of the festival this year, If These Halls Could Talk, will invite audiences to travel from Zeehan, through Rowella, Scottsdale, Liffey, Ross and St Helens, to Sorell and Glen Huon, and feature 10 community halls.

"It's not enough to plonk a show into a place anymore, festivals are really about looking very deep into those communities and making the program for those communities," Ms Hume said.

"The halls project is very special and I feel like if you only get to see the halls that's fine with me."

Ms Hume said she was feeling incredibly fortunate and privileged that they were able to launch the festival in Tasmania and that it covered so much of the state.

"We are proud to present a program that celebrates the brilliance, innovation and ingenuity of lutruwita/Tasmania's global local artists," she said.

"I can't tell you how much I have love curating and creating this festival with locals."

Arts Minister Elise Archer congratulated the festival and said it had created an international program from Tasmania.

"I encourage Tasmanians - wherever they live - to allow their curiosity to lead them on a journey and I look forward to sharing these marvellous arts experiences with communities around the state," she said.

Ten Days on the Island will run in the West and North West from March 5-8, in the North and North East from March 12-14, and in the south from March 19-21.
