A development application for the new learning centre at the East Tamar Primary School site has been lodged with the City of Launceston council.
It's proposed to be built on the school's site on vacant land on Hargrave Crescent, Mayfield. It will feature an outdoor play area, a training room, kitchenette, meeting rooms, lounge area, sandpit and a 17-lot car park.
It was first announced by the state government in June 2019, as part of a $28 million investment into the centres around Tasmania.

If approved, building is expected to commence in mid-2021 and it will be on track to be operational in the first half of 2022.
Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff said families would be able to access quality education, health, support and outreach services at the centre.
"The Tasmanian Government recognises that providing wrap around education and support services for families with very young children is key to setting children up for a bright future," he said.
"Extensive community consultation has now been undertaken for each of the six new CFLCs, and Local Enabling Groups (LEGS) are meeting monthly."
It is estimated it will service about 75 visitors a day and will employ 3.4 full time equivalent positions.
It was determined by the LEG the needs for child care services was already being met and therefore the centre will not provide child care onsite.
However, it does have the flexibility to offer this in future should the community's needs change.
A traffic impact assessment of the site found the centre was likely to attract an additional 68 vehicles to the area each day, which is considered low. It found the additional traffic would not create any adverse safety, amenity or traffic efficiency problems.
The centre was designed by Launceston architectural firm Cumulus Studio.
The development application is available for public comment on the council's website until February 8.
Other CFLCs will be built at Waratah-Wynyard, Sorell, Kingborough, Glenorchy and West Ulverstone.
