AUSTRALIA DAY 2021 IN NORTHERN TASMANIA:
Event organiser Geoff MacQueen said the location was perfect for professional kayakers.
"It's just ideally positioned, it's right next to Launceston, it's got this great viewing and it's a fantastic rapid to race on," he said.
"It's a class four white water rapid, it's quite stiff, people need to be experienced white water paddlers just to consider paddling it, to race it ramps it up again.
"There's really only a handful of people around Australia that seem to be willing to do that."
The event attracted Olympians and former world champions to compete.
