Contribution to community was the focus of this year's Break O'Day Council Awards, with six people recognised from volunteers to a hero, for their efforts in making the municipality what it is.

The awards were held at the Portland Hall on Tuesday, with voice actress Robyn Moore named the ambassador for the day.
This year's Citizen of the Year Award had joint winners in Wayne Cubitt and Dale Richards.
Mr Cubbitt was recognosed for his connection to the community for about 24 years, firstly as on holidays before choosing to make the community his home. He was described as someone who if an organisation came to for help he would not say no.
He has gone on to work with students at St Helens District High School, visits Medea Park Residential Care residents and was instrumental in bring the Stonehaven Cup to St Helens last year.

Mr Richards was recognised for his involvement for about 40 years with the St Helens Volunteer Fire Brigade, helping stranded motorists for years and his involvement with the St Helens Masonic Lodge.
Break O'Day mayor Mick Tucker said one of the things he enjoyed the most about his position was being able to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of community members.
"Often the efforts of our dedicated community members fly under the radar as they are focused on helping, not being acknowledged so it's a pleasure to shine a light on these integral community members," he said.
"I really can't emphasis enough how important these community members are in a small community."
The Young Citizen of the Year Award went to Zoe Bucknell for her role in bringing female football to the East Coast and for her mentorship of her younger team mates and junior players.
The Mayor's Special Award went to Cullen Dwyer, who was honoured for his part this month in rescuing a young girl visiting the area from drowning. He swam to her and stayed with her until a boat could pick her up.
He was also recognised for his volunteering with the St Helens Volunteer Fire Brigade.
The Break O'Day Municipality Excellence Award also had joint winners this year, with Heidi Howe and Fiona Lowe being bestowed the honour.
Ms Howe was recognised for her volunteering efforts in the community including as a board member of Possum M'agic and her work with the Bay of Fires event.
Alongside her, Ms Lowe was honoured for her work within the sporting community as she instigated the Net Set Go program at St Marys and has been involved in junior football also.
