This included Supercars racer Michael Caruso, who will take to the TCR grid in his Alfa Romeo Giulietta for Valvoline Racing GRM.
"I'm really excited to be back at a racetrack to be honest," the 37-year-old said.
"It's been close to 12 months since I've driven my car last - I think we know the challenges the world's faced and having the privilege to get back and do what we love is something I'm looking forward to."
TCM, S5000s and Trans Ams will be the other national categories headlining Race Tasmania, which marks the start of the Australian Racing Group calendar.
ELSEHERE IN SPORT:
Caruso will be joined by other Supercars notables including Chaz Mostert, Lee Holdsworth, Tony D'Alberto and James Moffat in racing touring cars at Symmons.
"It's [TCR] turning out to be a really good series," he said.
"And when you put together a group of these kinds of cars ... I think that's really going to put on a good show particularly at this track with that back straight and hairpin which always creates some action."
And action there will be, with racers returning from a COVID-19 hiatus to the twist and turns of Symmons.
Caruso, however was as confident as ever that he could handle it in his first race aboard his Giuelietta.
"There's nothing better than going as fast as a car can go in a straight line and although Symmons doesn't have as many corners, the challenge of this track is so technical," he said.
"Between having a car that's quick in a straight line, but able to stop that at the end of the staight and hair-pin is such a challenge. They're [TCR] vastly different from a supercar."
Race Tasmania will run races between January 24 and 26 at Symmons before heading to Baskerville the following weekend.
