The alert was issued at 3.56pm, advising there may be smoke and ash visible around the area.
A Tasmania Fire Service spokesperson said the smoke was caused by the burning of gorse.
According to the spokesperson, the fire did get out of control for a short time but is now under control and there is no cause for community concern.
People in the area with medical conditions, and those driving, are urged to remain vigilant.
